Miso Tahini Spread
Prep time: 10 Minutes
Makes 1-4 Servings (Can make 1 serving at a time and save the rest in the fridge for 1 week)
Try this umami rich and unique spread over bagels or serve with fresh cut vegetables. Tahini is a luscious sesame paste that pairs well with savory and salty miso. You can vary the bagel toppings according to the season - in the summer try it with figs and stone fruit, in the spring it pairs beautifully with berries.
Ingredients for Miso Tahini Spread:
¼ cup tahini
1 tbsp. white miso paste
1 tsp. lemon juice
½-1 tsp. maple syrup
3-4 tbsp. water
½ tsp. chopped fresh garlic (optional)
1-4 toasted & sliced Alvarado Street Bakery Sprouted Wheat Sesame Bagel
1 date, sliced
1 small fuyu persimmon, sliced
1 tbsp. toasted pumpkin seeds
1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
Place spread ingredients in a bowl. Start with 3 tbsp water, whisk until smooth. Mixture should be smooth and easy to spread. Add 1 tsp of water at a time if mix seems too thick.
Spread a nice layer of the miso tahini over the toasted bagel halves. Artfully top with the persimmon and date slices, seeds and maple syrup (optional).
