Apple & Fig Butter Grilled Brie

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of your favorite Alvarado Street Bakery Bread
  • 2 tablespoons fig butter (store bought or home­made)
  • ¼ green apple sliced thin
  • 3 slices brie cheese (look for vegan/dairy­free brie cheese if preferred)

Grilled cheese grew up. Sweet fig butter, crisp green apple, and creamy brie - toasted on bread that can actually hold its own against bold flavors. Fancy enough for company, easy enough for a weeknight.

How To: Fig Butter

Add ½ cup dried turkish figs to a small blender with 2 tablespoons water and ¼ cup coconut sugar; blend until smooth.

Directions

  1. Coat one side of each slice of bread with a small amount of cooking oil.
  2. On the opposite side of one slice, spread on the fig butter, layer with apple and brie slices.
  3. Top with the other slice of bread and toast in a large skillet over medium heat for 3­-5 minutes on each side. Enjoy!
